Hartmut Nold studierte an der Swiss Jazz School in Bern Drumset und an der Musikhochschule Frankfurt a.M. Klassische Perkussion.

Darauf folgte eine mehrjährige Ausbildung im Jazz Vibraphon bei Urs Wiesner in Basel sowie Workshops bei Mike Mainieri und Robert van Sice.

Neben seiner regen Unterrichtstätigkeit für die Musikschule im Breisgau und die Jazz & Rockschule Freiburg arbeitet Hartmut Nold als freischaffender Vibraphonist und Marimbaphonist in den Bereichen Neue Musik, Modern Jazz, Projekte mit Theater oder Tanz, Fusion und Improvisierte Musik.

Engagements at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, Alte Oper Frankfurt and at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
 

Today Hartmut Nold is a sought-after percussion teacher at the Musikschule im Breisgau and the Jazz & Rockschule Freiburg as well as a freelanced marimbist and vibist in the styles of Contemporary music, Modern Jazz, projekts with dance or theatre, Fusion and Improvised music.
